8 Days Guilin & Yangtze River Essence Tour from Hongkong

Day 1 Hong Kong Arrival

Upon arrival in Hong Kong, our driver will meet you at the exit of Hong Kong Airport then transfer to your hotel in Hong Kong downtown. What you need to do is sitting back and relaxing in the car.

Day 2 Hong Kong-Guilin

Take the early flight from Hong Kong to Guilin, our local guide and driver will pick up then starts your Guilin Tour.

Today, first take a visit to the iconic Sight-Elephant Trunk Hill, which is one of the four top Guilin attractions that all visitors coming to town usually stop by. Regarded as the symbol of Guilin city, the site is the most famous karstic hill formation out of the many rising straight out of the ground throughout the city. 

Then we head to Fubo Hill or Wave-Subduing Hill, which another of Guilin's unique scenic spots. Natural scenery - rocks and stalactites and the man-made cloister and pavilions blend to make this a memorable sight. Climbing along the winding stone stairway to the hilltop provides a panoramic view of Guilin City.

Lunch will be arranged at a great local restaurant to try local food.

After lunch, continue your tour to Reed Flute Cave, which is known as "the Palace of Natural Arts” is located in the northwest of Guilin City, 5 kilometers away from the center of the city. It is a cave on the southern shoulder of the Guangming Hill (Bright Hill) ancd is one of the most extraordinary scenic spots in Guilin. Counted as "must-see" sights in Guilin as well as Elephant Trunk Hill, Fubo Hill and Folded Brocade Hill.

In the afternoon, move on to the Seven-star Park. The park is named after the Seven Star Mountain, where there are seven peaks just like the stars falling from the sky. It is a micro version of Guilin scenery. Transfer back to your hotel after the tour.

Afterwards, you will be taken back to your hotel.

Day 3 Guilin

Takes about 1 hour to drive to Li River from downtown. The boarding time is scheduled at 9:30 am, and the whole journey takes about 4 hours. Embark and enjoy your Li River cruise to Yangshuo. Li River is the highlight of Guilin tour, and whoever come to this city will be impressed by its natural beauty. The landscape is decorated with rolling hills, steep cliffs, fantastic caves, leisurely boats and is lined with bamboo. The water reflect the mountain and the sky, forming a picturesque scenery. (Lunch is include)

Disembark at Yangshuo in the afternoon around 1:00pm. Have a short exploration of the old town. Yangshuo West Street is a place where you will find a lot of unique shops selling traditional handcrafts, hand-made scarfs, snacks of local flavor etc. There are some optional activities available, such as cycling, bamboo rafting, watch an impression show and etc.   

Transfer back to your hotel in Guilin. 

Day 4 Guilin-Chongqing

After breakfast, transfer to the Guilin railway station to catch your train to Chongqing. Upon arrive in Chongqing, our tour guide and driver will pick you up and the itinerary in Chongqing has the following attractions:

Firstly, you will be taken to visit the Ciqikou Old Town. The old town is located in Shapingba district of Chongqing and on the west bank of Jialing River, taking up an area of 1.18 square kilometers. This place is very charming with its narrow streets and small wooden houses and it provides some great opportunities for shopping souvenirs or tasting local snacks. When you are done with this, the ship will be waiting for you to take you on the cruise.

Your lunch will be arranged at the local restaurant popular with the local people to stay away from the tourists' meals.

Then drive about 13km from Ciqikou to Three Gorges Museum. It is one of the largest museum of the country. The museum opened in 2005, replacing the former Chongqing Museum. It is located near the Chongqing People's Hall. It aims to undertake education, preservation, and scientific research with respect to cultural heritage and the natural environment in Chongqing and the Three Gorges region of the Yangtze River.

In the afternoon, head to Hongya Cave, located in Chongqing‘s core commercial district of Jiefangbei on Cangbai Road and at the intersection of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers. The area combines travel, business, and cultural scenery into one grand view, with an overriding theme of Stilted Buildings which stands for the famous traditional Bayu minority architectural style on raised wooden stilts. If time permits, enjoy the stunning night view of Hongya Cave at sunset.

After dinner, drive back to your hotel in Chongqing.

Day 5 Chongqing, Yangtze River Cruise

In the morning, pay a visit to the Chongqing Zoo. It was built in 1953 and officially opened to the public in 1955. The zoo covers an area of 45 hectares (111 acres). The zoo an important base for the protection of and research on wild animals. It exhibits rare species including giant pandas, red pandas, the very rare South China tiger and white tiger, and the African elephant. Among them, the pandas are the most popular.

Your lunch will be arranged at the local restaurant popular with the local people to stay away from the tourists' meals.

After lunch, drive back to the city center and continue to visit Great Hall of the People.  Chongqing Great Hall of the People is 65 meters high. The auditorium is 55 meters high. The internal diameter is 46.33 meters. The circle auditorium is surrounded by five- storey stand, which are protruded out. It can hold over 4,200 people. The People’s Auditorium looks like the Temple of Heaven in Beijing enlarged, with big green roof of glazed roof tiles, red colonnades, white balustrades. It is painted with all kinds of pictures. It’s glorious and majestic. Building this imitated version of Temple of Heaven is to pray that the country flourishes and people live in peace.

After the sightseeing, drive to the nearby to visit The Liberation Monument. It is a landmark building in Chongqing, the Liberation Monument (Jiefangbei) is one of the must-see attractions in the city. Situated in the business center it is surrounded by shopping malls, theatres, hotels, restaurants and office buildings. After a short stay, your guide will show you around...

After dinner, transfer to the Chaotianmen dock for your Yangtze River trip.

Day 6 Yangtze River Cruise

As the largest water system in China, Yangtze River is historically, economically and culturally important to the country. It has numerous tributaries including Min River, Han River, Jialing River, Gan River, and Huangpu River.

Upon you cruise along the Yangtze river, you will have an excursion to Fengdu Ghost City, visiting either the "Ghost City" known for its statues of ghosts and devils onMingshan Hill, or the new relocation village, built for families who have moved as a result of the Yantgze's rising waters brought by the Three Gorgres Dam.

After disembark, you will take a cable car up to the hill and visit the temples all over the mountain with many statues. Your tour guide will show you around this Ghost City.

Return to the ship at the appointed time, and pass towards the fantastic Three Gorges. Stay overnight on the ship.

Day 7 Yangtze River Cruise

Following the ship, and you will enter the Qutang Gorge. The Qutang Gorge is the shortest and most spectacular of China's Three Gorges. The combination of narrow canyons among high mountains with several switchbacks in only 8 kilometres creates spectacular vistas, and the Qutang Gorge is often considered the most beautiful of all the Three Gorges. Although it is primarily famous for its scenery, the Three Gorges region is also a historically and culturally important location in China.

Upon you arrive in Wuhan, the tour guide will lead you disembark the ship and board smaller vessels in order to explore either the Daning River (or Shennong Stream).

Return to the ship at the appointed time. Stay overnight on the ship.

Day 8 Yangtze River Cruise-Yichang Departure

Today, you will pass through the Xiling Gorge. It is the largest and most downstream—eastern of the famous Three Gorges.

The last destination is Three Gorge Dam, it is the world’s largest hydropower project and most notorious dam. As well as producing electricity, the dam is intended to increase the Yangtze River's shipping capacity and reduce the potential for floods downstream by providing flood storage space.

Upon cruise arrival in Yichang. Transfer from cruise to airport or train station for your next destination. Our service ends.
