Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Chengdu to Hailuogou, traveling along the Chengdu–Ya’an Expressway and through the impressive Mt. Erlang Tunnel. The drive takes approximately 6–7 hours, covering around 280 kilometers, providing a perfect introduction to the natural beauty of western Sichuan. Upon arrival, your guide will lead you through the park, where the glacier—stretching an impressive 13 kilometers—dominates the scenery with its shimmering ice formations. Spanning a total length of 30.7 kilometers and covering an expansive 197 square kilometers, the glacier park offers a diverse array of natural features to explore. As you wander through the area, your guide will point out the glacier’s lower-elevation, oceanic, and contemporary ice formations, as well as the surrounding hot springs, snow-capped peaks, virgin forests, and ancient drift-dammed lakes. At the terminus of the glacier lies Moxi Township, where a large, integrated scenic area unfolds, offering a harmonious blend of glaciers, mountains, forests, and lakes.
