Day 1 Arrive in Xiamen

Upon your arrival, your friendly local guide and driver will be waiting for you at the airport or railway station, holding a warm welcome sign that reads "Your Way Holiday." They will assist with your luggage and escort you to your hotel in downtown Xiamen, ensuring a smooth check-in. After settling in, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Xiamen is a city that invites exploration, with its mix of natural beauty, rich history, and modern charm. Take your time to wander through its picturesque streets, visit local landmarks, and soak in the relaxed coastal atmosphere. Whether you choose to stroll along the lively streets or find a quiet corner to relax, today is the perfect introduction to this charming city.

After relaxing at the hotel for a bit, you can head out to explore some nearby attractions. I’d recommend a visit to any of the following spots, each offering a unique glimpse into Xiamen’s charm and culture. Here, you can enjoy some of the local delicacies, perhaps sampling peanut soup or the famous Xiamen spring rolls. For a taste of Xiamen’s more tranquil side, consider a scenic walk or bike ride along Huandao Road, which hugs the coastline and offers stunning views of the sea, soft beaches, and palm groves. The view of the sunset here is especially breathtaking. Additionally, Egret Isle Park (Bailuzhou Park) is a great place to unwind, with its peaceful lakes, lush greenery, and variety of birds, giving you a glimpse into the relaxed pace of life enjoyed by the locals.

Day 2 Xiamen

In the morning, your guide will meet you at your hotel in Xiamen and escort you on a scenic drive to the famous Nanjing Tulou, a UNESCO World Heritage site located about 1.5 hours away from the city. Day 3 Xiamen-Wuyishan

Good morning! Your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel and start your classic exploration of the refreshing Xiamen City. First, you’ll take a 20-minute ferry ride to Gulangyu Island (Kulangsu), a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site since 2017, often referred to as a "Historic International Settlement." This 1.88-square-kilometer island is famous for its blend of architectural styles from various foreign countries, including the UK, Italy, France, Spain, and more, dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The island is known as an "International Architecture Museum" due to its stunning buildings, including remnants of 13 former embassies. Roam through the narrow, old alleys as you admire historical churches, mansions, villas, and museums. A highlight of the visit is the Eight Diagrams Building (Organ Museum), home to the world’s largest collection of organs from different periods and countries. After your visit to Nanputuo Temple, your guide and driver will escort you to the Xiamen train station, where you will board your 2-3.5 hour train to Wuyishan. Upon arrival, your local guide and driver will meet you at the arrival hall, holding a sign that reads "Your Way Holiday" to welcome you. They will then transfer you to your hotel located at the foot of the breathtaking Wuyi Mountain, a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage site. Your guide will assist you with check-in, after which you will have the rest of the day to explore the surrounding area of Wuyi Mountain. Known for its enchanting waterscapes, Danxia landform, and cultural significance, this area is an ideal place for relaxation and discovery. You’ll have the opportunity to unwind and immerse yourself in the stunning beauty and peaceful atmosphere of this remarkable natural retreat.

Day 4 Wuyishan

After breakfast, we’ll take the scenic park shuttle bus (included in your ticket) to Tianyou Peak, which is widely regarded as the premier attraction of Wuyi Mountain. Xu Xiake, the famous travel writer, described this location as the "finest vantage point to behold the Nine Bend River’s splendor and the panorama of Danxia landforms." As you take in the breathtaking views, you’ll stroll along the Yunwo Ancient Path and explore the secluded Chadong Trail, both offering glimpses of the natural beauty that inspired tea cultivators during the Song Dynasty. These paths lead you through peaceful landscapes that seem frozen in time, a serene tribute to the area's rich history of tea culture. The next adventure is the ascent of Tianyou Peak, crowned as "Wuyi’s Most Treacherous Summit." You can choose your route based on your fitness level.

For those seeking a more intense experience, the Brave Path awaits. Climb 848 steep stone steps to the summit, which will take approximately 1.5 hours. The effort is rewarded with stunning panoramic views from the "Panoramic Pavilion," where you’ll enjoy a magnificent vista of the meandering Nine Bend River and the majestic peaks that compete in grandeur. For a gentler route, the Leisurely Path provides a more relaxed but equally rewarding experience. On this path, you’ll have the opportunity to explore Yunwo, Shuiyue Pavilion, Chadong, and Xianyu Pond, taking in the sublime scenery without the physical challenge. This route offers a more tranquil yet equally enriching way to experience the beauty of Wuyi Mountain.

After lunch, prepare for a signature Wuyi experience—a 1.5-hour bamboo raft drift down the Nine Bend River, known as the "Waterborne Danxia." As you glide atop the emerald waters, local boatmen will pole the rafts and recount ancient legends of the King and Fairy Peaks, offering a rich cultural insight into the area (please note that the narration is in Chinese). The view from the river is incomparable, as you’ll see 36 towering peaks, including Sun-Drying Rock and Three-Raising Peak, towering above you. The river’s surface, calm and mirror-like, reflects the crimson cliffs, creating the illusion of gliding through an unfolding ink-wash painting. This journey down the river will leave you feeling as though you’ve stepped into a living artwork, where nature and legend are woven together seamlessly.

After disembarking from the raft, you’ll have the chance to explore Wuyi Palace, a millennium-old complex that houses the Liu Yong Memorial Hall, dedicated to the "King of Ci Poetry," and Zhu Xi’s Lecture Hall, an important Confucian site. As you wander through the grounds, take note of the thousand-year-old trees, standing as silent witnesses to the passage of history. Finally, conclude your day with a stroll through the Song Dynasty-themed Old Street. This area is filled with stunning architectural elements such as carved windows, arched gates, and ornate pillars, each one framing Wuyi’s breathtaking landscapes like a living painting. Day 5 Wuyishan Departure

In the morning, you’ll begin your day with a visit to the Dahongpao Scenic Area, renowned for its lush green plantation of Dahongpao tea, considered a national treasure in China. Known as the ancestor of the first black tea, Dahongpao has an iconic reputation worldwide. As you stroll through the plantation, you'll have the chance to admire the six ancient Dahongpao tea trees, each over 340 years old, growing on the cliffs. These trees are legendary for producing some of the finest tea leaves. Your guide will share stories about the history and significance of the tea, while you take in the refreshing tea aroma filling the air. You’ll also see the Chinese characters for "Dahongpao" inscribed in red next to the trees, a symbol of the region's deep connection to its tea heritage.

Afterward, you’ll visit Shuilian Cave (Water Curtain Cave), just a short drive away, to experience its stunning natural beauty. The cave, with its impressive waterfalls and springs, stands 100 meters high and is a magnificent example of the region’s natural wonders. The water cascades down from the summit of the cave, creating a tranquil atmosphere that blends with the lush surroundings. As you take in the view of the water tumbling down from the heights, you’ll understand why this place has long been considered a hidden gem. The cool, refreshing mist from the waterfalls adds to the natural charm of the area, making it the perfect spot to relax and immerse yourself in the peaceful ambiance of the cave.

Next, you’ll drive for about 10 minutes to Xiamei Village, a historic site over 1400 years old, known as the birthplace of the Ten Thousand Li Tea Road. This ancient route was used to transport Dahongpao tea to Europe and Central Asia starting from the 17th century. In Xiamei, you’ll enjoy a leisurely walk through the village, where you’ll discover its rich tea culture. Stroll along the ancient Dangxi Stream, which stretches over 900 meters, once used for transporting tea, and admire the over 30 traditional Qing Dynasty dwellings that still showcase intricate wood and brick carvings. Tea houses line the streets, inviting tea lovers to sample fresh local brews and experience the charm of this historic village. The tour gives you a deep appreciation for the integral role tea has played in shaping the local culture and the village’s long-standing tea heritage.
