Hunter Peak (Jianzi Shan)

Overview
Hunter Peak is located near Rilong town, Xiaojin County. Mount Steeple (Jianzishan) is a knife edged rock peak in southwestern China. In winter from 2005 to now, several parties made ascent. Steeple is part of the Four Girls (Siguniang) Mountains, a beautiful Nature Reserve with many sharp rock peaks, lakes and marshes. Glaciers shaped the area in a distant past. The highest peak in the region is Four Girls Mountain itself, reaching up to 6250m. The area is known for it’s abundance of blooming flowers and alpine plants. Also, a lot of medicinal herbs can be found.

Jianzishan area is a typical alpine plateau climate zone. Although it is located in a low latitude area, the plateau climate is formed due to the extremely high altitude. Most of the hillsides here are barren mountains and exposed rocks, which are not as expected. Beautiful, but a hillside facing southeast caught my attention. The hillside is covered with blue weeds, forming a vast alpine meadow. The local herdsmen all drove their cattle and sheep here to graze. The scene of the wind blowing and the grass low and seeing the cattle and sheep made me think that I was on the prairie of Inner Mongolia. Near the center of the pasture, there are Tibetans living on Jianziwan Mountain. People, they are rare nomads among ethnic minorities. They follow the changes of the seasons and live by water and grass. Where there are pastures, there will be their homes.
