This trip was an absolute adventure! I’ve always wanted to explore the deserts and mountains of Xinjiang, and it did not disappoint. The day we drove into the Dawakun Desert was unreal—just endless sand dunes and blue skies. Then, the drive up to the Pamirs Plateau was one of the most scenic routes I’ve ever been on. Karakul Lake was stunning, with the snow-capped mountains reflecting in the water—it felt like I was in another world.
The trip also gave me a taste of Kashgar's rich history, from the buzzing Sunday Bazaar to wandering around the Old Town and the famous Id Kah Mosque.
