Overview
Randeng Ancient Temple has a long history, and its original name is "Xinxiang Temple". Temples were built in Sui Tang Dynasties. In the Tang Dynasty, Zen master "Farun" had practiced here. Under the leadership of the master, Xinxiang Temple became famous. During the Song Dynasty, Emperor Zhenzong granted the temple the name of Ruiying Zen temple. Since the Qing Dynasty, the temple has been renamed as the Randeng Ancient Temple because of the worship of a Buddha.

Allusion
Chu Xinxiang (female, 581-604 A.D.), a native of heishuixi in Qingcheng County, Sichuan Province, worshipped Buddhism since childhood and was willing to help the poor. She chose San'e mountain, where the Rendeng temple is located, as his place of cultivation. Natural disasters often occur in the local area, and the people are in dire need of livelihood. She usually treats diseases for the public and gives food to them. She has won the hearts of the people and is called "living Bodhisattva" by the local people. After her death, in order to repay her, the local people built a temple here, initially named "Xinxiang Temple", also known as "Virgin Mary Hall".

Rebuilt
In the Qing Dynasty, with the arrival of a large number of Hakka immigrants, and the prevailing worship of Buddhism, Buddhist temples were restored and rebuilt. After the middle of the Qing Dynasty, Buddhists worshipped a statue of Randeng Buddha. There were 108 acupoints on the statue, each of which was cast with small holes. The wicks were placed in the holes. When the believers were ignited with oil, the whole body was bright. Every time the believers felt uncomfortable, they lit their lamps at the corresponding acupoints to eliminate disasters and diseases, which was very effective. Therefore, the temple was renamed "Randeng Temple", which has been followed up to now.
