Overview
Kunming is located in Southwest China and the central part of Yunnan Guizhou Plateau. It is connected with Guizhou and Guangxi in the East, Sichuan and Chongqing in the north, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia in the south, Myanmar and India in the West. It is China's gateway city open to Southeast Asia and South Asia, and is located at the intersection of ASEAN "10 + 1" free trade area economic circle, Greater Mekong sub regional economic cooperation circle and Pan Pearl River Delta regional economic cooperation circle.

Get in Kunming

By Highway
Kunming is one of the most important transportation hubs in Western China, and expressway is the most developed and common mode of transportatio. There are Beijing Kunming expressway, Shanghai Kunming expressway, Shantou Kunming expressway, Guangzhou Kunming expressway, Chongqing Kunming expressway, Hangzhou Ruili expressway, Kunming Ring Expressway, Kunming Xiangtan expressway, Kunhe expressway, Kunming Jiancheng expressway, Kunman expressway, etc.

By Bus
At present, there are five bus passenger stations in Kunming, which are the northern, southern, western, northwest and East. Tourists who have enough time and energy can choose to take buses to get in Kunming.

By Train
At present, there are four railway stations in Kunming: Kunming South Railway Station, Kunming north railway station, Kunming east railway station and Kunming West Railway Station. There are 90 trains to Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, Chongqing, Xiamen, Zhengzhou, Nanning, Nanchang, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Guiyang, Changsha and Hangzhou. However, the first railway in Kunming was the Yunnan Vietnam Railway built by France and opened to traffic in 1910. This is also the only railway line in Kunming that only leads to foreign countries. The starting point is Kunming north railway station.

By Flight
At present, there is only one airport in Kunming, named Kunming Changshui International Airport, which is 24.5 kilometers northeast of Kunming City, serving about 30 million passengers per year. At present, there are 348 domestic and international routes (78 international and regional routes, including 65 South Asia and Southeast Asia routes), 173 navigable cities (122 domestic, 47 international and 4 regional). Among them, 41 South Asia and Southeast Asia navigation points have been opened, ranking first in China, basically realizing the full coverage of passenger transport in the capitals of South and Southeast Asian countries and key tourist cities.

Like most cities, Kunming has relatively developed urban transportation. At present, Kunming has 4 metro lines, 310 public bus lines, 9 BRT bus lines and 7000 taxis, which basically meet the needs of local people and tourists.
