Overview
Shangri la is inhabited by many ethnic minorities, so it has many national festivals, such as the "horse racing" on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, and the "torch festival" of the Yi people. People's songs and dances of various nationalities in Shangri La mainly include "Guozhuang dance" in dazhongdian, "love dance" in Nicai, "Reba dance" in five regions, "akabala dance" of Naxi nationality, "hulusheng dance" of Yi nationality and "antipodal dance" of Susu nationality.

Ethnic Minority
In addition to the Tibetan nationality, Shangri-La has more than 20 nationalities, including Han, Naxi, Yi, Bai, Dai, Zhuang, Miao, Hui, Susu, Lahu, WA, Yao, Jingpo, Bulang, Buyi, Achang, Hani, Xibo, Pumi, Mongolian, Nu, Jinuo, De'ang, Shui, Manchu, Dulong, etc.

Horse Racing Festival
Horse racing festival is one of the major traditional festivals in Shangri-La, and it is also a traditional ethnic race event with the longest history in Shangri-La and a favorite event of the people. Shangri-la horse racing festival originated from the traditional Tibetan Festival "tobacco Festival". So far, the horse racing festival has become a propaganda platform for carrying forward and inheriting Shangri-La national culture and displaying unique folk customs and beautiful natural scenery.

Gedong Festival
Gedong Festival, also known as "Tiaoshen Festival", is a kind of religious activity specially organized by Tibetan Buddhist temples. The Gedong Festival is held every year from December 26 to 29 in the Tibetan calendar, and Songzanlin temple has the most solemn festival atmosphere. On the 26th, it was a rehearsal of the God dance; on the 27th and 28th, it was a recitation ceremony; on the 29th, it was a mask dance with various styles, such as horses, deer, monkeys, yaks, dogs, crows, pigs, tigers and so on. The dance was accompanied by Suona, drum, postscript and other instrumental music. The atmosphere was mysterious and lasted for one day.

Firebrand Festival of the Yi Ethnic Group
Firebrand Festival is a traditional festival in Yi nationality areas. It is held on June 24 of the lunar calendar every year. It is popular in Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan and other Yi areas. The date of the event is 10 days. Yi people hold a grand social activity during the day and sing and dance around the campfire in the evening.

Tibetan dance
Tibetan dance is the general name of Tibetan national dance. The more common Tibetan dances are Xianzi dance, Guozhuang dance and Tap dance. There are many kinds of Tibetan folk dances with their own characteristics.
